Timesheet Calculator

Add start and end times, subtract unpaid breaks, and get daily and weekly totals in hours:minutes and decimal hours. Overnight shifts work, and an hourly rate shows gross pay.

Convert exactly, then round the decimal to 2 places (7:20 → 7.33).

Gross pay = weekly decimal hours × rate, before tax.

Off: daily and weekly totals come from the exact time, rounded once. On: they are the sum of the rounded shift values.

Pre-filled with an example week. Edit it or clear it to start fresh.

  1. Net 7:30 = 7.50 h

  2. Net 7:30 = 7.50 h

  3. Net 7:30 = 7.50 h

  4. Net 7:30 = 7.50 h

  5. Net 7:30 = 7.50 h

How it works

For each row the calculator subtracts the start from the end (adding 24 hours when the end is earlier, so overnight shifts work), takes off the unpaid break and applies your rounding rule. Daily and weekly totals are then worked out from the exact time and rounded once.

Worked example: A 22:00 to 06:00 shift with a 30-minute break

  1. 06:00 is earlier than 22:00, so the shift crosses midnight: 06:00 becomes 30:00
  2. 30:00 - 22:00 = 8:00 elapsed
  3. Minus the 30-minute break = 7:30
  4. 7:30 = 7.50 decimal hours

At a rate of 20 per hour: 7.5 × 20 = 150.00 gross pay

Frequently asked questions

How does the timesheet calculator handle overnight shifts?

When the end time is earlier than the start time, the shift is treated as crossing midnight. 22:00 to 06:00 is 8 hours. The hours are counted on the day the shift started.

Are breaks paid or unpaid?

The break field is for unpaid breaks and it is subtracted from the shift. Leave it empty or at 0 for paid breaks so that time stays in the total.

How is gross pay calculated?

Weekly decimal hours (as shown in the totals) multiplied by the hourly rate, rounded to the cent. It is before tax and other deductions, and this tool does not calculate overtime.

Can I enter more than one shift in a day?

Yes. Add another row and pick the same day. Rows for the same day are combined into one daily total, which suits split shifts.

How do I get my timesheet out of the page?

Use Copy as text to paste a summary into an email or chat, or Download CSV for a file that opens in Excel or Google Sheets. Nothing is uploaded.

Why can a shift show 7.33 when three of them total 22.00?

Totals are worked out from the exact time and rounded once, so three 7:20 shifts are exactly 22:00 = 22.00 hours even though each shift on its own shows 7.33. If your payroll adds the rounded shift values instead (7.33 × 3 = 21.99), tick “Add the rounded shifts”.
